Christmas Scripture Reading – Day 12 + 10 Printables for Gift-Giving

We are reading through a 25-Day Christmas Scripture Reading Plan together. If you are just now joining, you can easily catch up with the links below which will take you to each day’s passages at

Children are at the heart of some of our most cherished Christmas celebrations. It’s hard to beat the thrill of watching their sleepy eyes grow wide with excitement when they see the gifts waiting under the Christmas tree for them. Today’s reading in 1 John 3:1-3 reminds us that we are all children – children of our Heavenly Father.

See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! – 1 Peter 3:1

As little children, we didn’t have to be convinced who our moms and dads were – we grew up knowing their voices, they tucked us into bed each night, and kissed our boo boos. We just believed and trusted them. I’ll be honest, though, there are times when I struggle with the concept of being a “child of God.” I try to comprehend it with my human mind using logic and reasoning, but that doesn’t work. Because I’ve never seen Him with my own eyes, my brain will occasionally question my status as His daughter. Accepting my role as a chosen child of the King requires that I use my heart instead of my head. It requires belief, trust, and faith – in daily doses.

Remember today that you are SPECIAL. You are chosen. You are valued. YOU are a child of God. He made you perfectly you, with your perceived flaws and all. Cherish this gift and accept your treasured position in His family tree.
