Pause Before You Miss the Happy

24 Oct

I wonder if we often blow right past happiness because we are so busy in the pursuit of it that we don’t see it for what it is.

Hmmmm . . . . .

Does this strike a chord with you? It does me.

Is there anyone reading this who is not in search of that thing, that person, that job, that house, that family, that dress, that hairstyle, that weight, that would finally make you happy? I didn’t think so.

We all do it, and I’m really wondering today if we get in such a hurry with our search for the ever-illusive “happy” that we completely miss THE happy!

Maybe the thing we are about to miss is not exactly what we thought we were looking for, but it sure contains a lot of happiness if we would open our eyes to it.

Maybe our grand {ahem, Pinterest-fed} dreams of happiness are so spectacular that when a good happy comes our way, we dismiss it as not good enough.

Maybe our crazed efforts to do all and be all at work and at home have left us too busy, too tired, and too stretched to recognize or appreciate happiness even when it covers your face in puppy kisses because he’s so happy to see you, when she spills milk on the floor as she tries to be a big girl and fix her own breakfast, or when he burns the dinner he so lovely made for you.

Stop. Pause. Open. Your. Eyes. Before happiness slides right by and you’ve missed every ounce of it.

Be aware today of those things which make you happy. Big things. Little things. They are all significant, and they are all blessings from God sent directly to you to bring you joy. :)

Here’s to a Happy Wednesday!
