Red, White, and Blue Recipe Roundup

4 Jul

You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness.  You may think you have overeaten, but it is patriotism.  – Erma Bombeck

What do Americans like to do more than almost anything?  EAT!  In honor of the anniversary of our country’s independence, here are some gorgeous – and pretty tasty looking – red, white and blue recipes for your festivities!

Red, White and Blueberry Trifle from Skinny Taste creates quite an impressive dessert that looks scrumptious.

Patriotic Berry Pretzel Salad from Eat Eighty Twenty offers that sweet and salty mix that we seem to love so much.

4th of July Strawberries from The Sisters Cafe dresses up some strawberries for the 4th.

French Toast with Berry Butter from The Pioneer Woman uses fresh fruit mixed in with the butter.  Yum!

Mixed Berries with Vanilla Anglaise from Betty Crocker uses soy milk for a simple, elegant dessert.

Red, White and Blue Dessert Nachos with from The Scrumptious Pumpkin uses whole wheat tortillas sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar for a less fattening treat.

Blueberry Cobbler with Sugared Star Shortcakes from MyRecipes.com is as easy as it gets and looks delicious!

Hungry yet?  Yeah, me too.

This, then, is the state of the union:  free and restless, growing and full of hope.  So it was in the beginning.  So it shall always be, while God is willing, and we are strong enough to keep the faith.  – Lyndon B. Johnson

Have a fun, safe, and cool Independence Day!
