The CT scan was uneventful yesterday, which is exactly how I like it. :) Thanks for your prayers and encouragement! Hopefully, I will have great news to report after seeing the doctor tomorrow.
Some people are not like others.
Some people make the world a better place just with their presence.
Some people look for the good in any situation, and especially in a bad one.
Some people are like little walking, talking rays of sunshine.
Some people just make you smile.
Mr. Hess is one of those people.
I’ve talked about Mr. Hess before on the blog and I was hoping we might run into him yesterday when I went for my scan. And we did! He is the sweetest person. Just so happy to see us and chat for a few minutes. Well, truthfully, Mr. Hess likes to chat for more than a few minutes. He’s quite the talker! ;)
Some people have such a special spirit in them that they leave a positive mark on everyone they meet. Mr. Hess is dealing with a very serious cancer – stage 4 colon cancer. He’s buying time right now. The treatments are incredibly hard on him and he gets them every single week. He said he was going to ask the doctor for a break yesterday – to see if he could skip a week of treatment because he needed a rest.
The treatments have caused his skin to break out in a horribly painful rash – all over his face and body. Yet, in spite of this, there he stood in front of us, encouraging me. With a smile on his face, one of the last things he said to me before we parted was, “I hope that the scan shows that there is no more cancer in you.” He’s praying the same for himself, but said he has a peace about whatever happens because he trusts that God is in control and has blessed him with a good life.
There are two ways of spreading light;
to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it.
Oh, to be more like Mr. Hess. He is both the candle and the mirror that reflects it.
Mr. Hess was interviewed on one of the local news stations about our nurse, Dorothy, and The Jefferson Award she received. If you care to, you can watch the video here: http://www.wrcbtv.com/story/16962396/jefferson-award-honoree-dorothy-williamson. I tried to get the video to embed in this post, but this blog and its operator were having issues last night. :)
Have a wonderful Thursday!
