Impatiently Waiting

31 Aug

I guess it’s a sign that I’m feeling pretty well these days because I am anxious to get started with round 2 of chemo! Maybe the truer statement is that I am anxious to get the next round of chemo (and it’s accompanying sickness) behind me. Yeah, I think that’s it.

I’m also very interested in getting a CT scan to see if my kidney is responding at all to the chemo yet. Dr. Daniel said he might order one around week 4 to see if there’s been any progress. If it looks good, I might be able to have the stent taken out. If the kidney is still too swollen so that the stent can’t be removed, the stent will have to be replaced toward the end of September because they can only stay in place for 3 months. Please pray HARD for removal.  :)

Here’s an interesting little nugget of cancer research information that is making headlines recently. Apparently, research is showing that MDMA, which is otherwise known as the drug ecstasy, is proving to be effective in treating blood cancers such as leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma. Seriously???  Seriously.

The catch is that the doses required to effectively treat the cancer would kill the patient. So, researchers have developed modified forms of MDMA that are showing promising results in treating lymphoma and leukemia.

Can you imagine all these cancer patients taking ecstasy to treat their cancer instead of the current chemotherapy regimines??  :)
