What Doesn’t Kill You Makes You Stronger [VIDEO]

9 May

There are few things that touch my heart more than a child with cancer.  God must give parents whose children have cancer a very special strength because I can’t imagine the pain of watching your child suffer and fight this horrific disease.  There are numerous hospitals around the country that specialize in treating childhood cancer, but there are some that stand out from the rest.

One of those hospitals is St. Jude in Memphis, the heart-child of Danny Thomas.  St. Jude is a very special place to me.  One of my friend’s daughters received a bone marrow transplant there five years ago.  Now, she is healthy and getting ready to graduate from high school this weekend!  Congratulations, Kellie!!  We are all so proud of you and can’t wait to see what amazing things God does through you in the future!

Another fantastic children’s cancer hospital is Seattle Children’s Hospital.  Seattle Children’s received a Community Impact grant from the LIVESTRONG organization and produced the following fabulous video to Kelly Clarkson’s song, Stronger.  These precious faces with their bald heads, toothless grins, and sweet smiles just melt my heart.  And they inspire me.  I hope they do the same for you.

If you have cancer, you are most likely already familiar with LIVESTRONG, the organization started by Lance Armstrong to raise funds for cancer research, provide information and support for cancer patients, and encourage healthy lifestyles.  LIVESTRONG has an incredible amount of information and resources for cancer patients, but they also have a ton of information about health in general, ways to prevent or minimize your chances of getting cancer, and encouragement for living a strong, healthy life.

It’s time to have a wonderful Wednesday!
