Do you remember the American Cancer Society’s Cancer Prevention Study I mentioned a couple of months ago? Well, they’ve announced eight Chattanooga locations for enrollment in the study! Since I have so many Chattanooga readers (love you guys!), I thought it worth mentioning here. Special thanks to Barb for alerting me to the Chattanooga enrollment options. :)
The study is for men and women who have never been diagnosed with cancer and who are between the ages of 30 and 65. The study will take place over 20 years, so you will be sent surveys periodically and asked to answer questions about your health and lifestyle. This will help the researchers determine if there are patterns of behavior or environmental factors that seem to be influencing cancer occurrences or lack of cancer occurrences. For more details and answers to questions you might have, please visit the FAQ page for the study by clicking here.
Enrollment will take about 20-30 minutes of your time and will require a simple blood test. At that time, you will be asked to complete a brief survey. Enrollment sessions will take place August 21-25 at the following locations:
- Parkridge Medical Center
- Parkridge East Hospital
- YMCA Hamilton Place
- Cleveland YMCA
- Memorial Ooltewah Imaging Center
- Memorial North Park Hospital
- Downtown YMCA
- Urban League of Chattanooga
If you are interested in participating, you can schedule your appointment online by clicking on the Schedule Appointment button at the bottom of this page. If you’d like to learn more about the study, please visit the ACS CPS-3 Study page here. For details, dates and times for the Chattanooga enrollment sessions, please click here. For those outside of Chattanooga, please visit here to find the closest enrollment location to you.
I hope that you will seriously consider joining this study. More and more people are being affected by cancer every day and we need to put a stop to it! YOU can make a difference. :)
